Some things
you need to know when contacting DJs
-
Most DJs claim to have approximately
or more than 23,000 songs in their library. That certainly sounds
impressive. Here's the secret: most of those songs are extra tracks
on cds that only have 1 or 2 hits on them. Come on... 23,000
songs that are hits? Please... You know better than that!
-
Will your DJ provide you with
a wish list so that you will hear what you want and don't want?
-
Many DJs boast the use of computerized
equipment. That means that the party is being run by a computer.
Have you ever gotton the "blue screen of death"? Imagine: you
are in the middle of your first dance, or other valuable moment of your
event, and the music STOPS!!! For three minutes or more, your "DJ"
struggles to get the computer rebooted, open up the music playing program,
then find and play the song that was playing! Are you kidding???
Many DJs claim that they invest so much money in computerized equipment.
The truth is that they are too lazy to set up and use traditional music
equipment. Heck, they download MP3s and play them with the click
of a button, with no foresight of a dreaded computer crash. You need
a DJ that goes the extra mile, and uses standard equipment to make sure
that the music WILL NOT STOP!!! That is also the mark of a pro, not
a young buck wanting to lazily get over by pushing buttons and hoping people
wouldn't notice. Insist on non-computerized music, it's for your
own good!
-
Beware of DJs who's claim to
fame is to have attended a DJ school! How can you teach someone to
entertain? A true entertainer has the gift to be able to keep folks
motivated. Remember the last time you partied? Someone was
the "life of the party". Chances are that he/she didn't go to a school
to learn how to do that!
-
Beware of the DJs that prominantly
offer Karaokae services. Sure that's a lot of fun, but many DJs bring
a Karaokae machine along so they can kill time, at your expense, doing
nothing but introducing the next singer. Look at the corner of the
room, where the "DJ" is having a smoke... Are you getting that much
entertainment for your money? Hmm...
-
Meet your DJ before signing anything!
If your DJ doesn't want to meet, chances are that he/she is not reliable.
Sit down and get to know your DJ. Exchange ideas, jokes, memories
and fun things from parties. THIS will acquaint you with the person
that will make your event happen. Make sure your DJ is relaxed when
meeting you. If not, how will your event go in front of your of guests
wanting to be entertained???
Shop around!
Make
sure to shop around! Check out DJs and get a good idea of DJ pricing,
experience and reputation! Most of all, don't sign anything until
you've met your DJ in person! If the DJ doesn't want to meet with
you, they have something to hide. Get to know each other, get comfortable
with your DJ. You will have a much greater peace of mind.
Your
DJ should show up with a planner and an outline or what you want to hear
and when. You should be given several options of every facet of your
event. If you encounter any resistance to your suggestions, walk
away! Your DJ should completely tailor your event to YOUR wishes!
There can be NO EXCEPTIONS to this!
We insist
that you check around before you decide to let Mirage Sound perform at
your event! Confident? Yes, we are! Now, ask another
DJ business to do that! The bottom line is that you will be happy
with your entertainment during your event. Pre-planning and meeting
your entertainer are crucial to the success of your precious moment.
We'll
see you at your party!
